A fixed sheet lead limits your sail shape: the barber pulls the sheet down and inboard, opening or closing the slot exactly when you need it.

The deck ring fixes with its loop; the second one comes already spliced into the control line's eye. Your sheet runs through it, you trim from the cockpit.
